Various placements are available for nursing and medical students looking to gain experience in a hospital setting in West Africa. Successful volunteers will have the chance to work closely with a local government-run hospital in the rural town of Asamankese in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Volunteers will have their choice of which department to work with and can even opt to rotate through the hospital departments during their stay to get a better sense of how the whole system works. The hospital is quite busy with a pharmacy and lab on site. The following skills are desired: Ø Be a pre-med or medical student Ø Previous experience working in a hospital or public health setting Ø Possess exceptional communication skills (writing, speaking and listening) Ø Be understanding, open-minded and respectful of different cultural practices Ø Have a personal commitment to patient confidentiality Ø Able to adapt quickly to new situations Ø Comfortable working with diverse clientele Interested applicants should send a copy of their current resume with a brief cover letter to our Volunteer Coordinator at
